I’ve been putting this off as long as I can, but unfortunately things have been piling up way too high. I’m temporarily halting the the M/W/F schedule of updating this site, just for a couple months or so. I’ll still post sporadically when I have some time.
I have really good reasons, though! The biggest one is that I am co-directing a movie that I also wrote with a buddy. It started as a small project but quickly snowballed into something enormous – we’re now providing internships to an entire crew of film students helping out over the summer. We’re in pre-production right now (in the final stages of casting and location scouting) but we’ll be filming all summer, full days on set with myself at the very top of it all. Very stressful, and even now I’m doing more work day-in and day-out then I’ve ever done in my life.
On top of all this, I’m still taking plenty of classes and drawing the weekly comics for our school paper. On top of that, I’m driving all over Michigan to perform stand-up wherever I can get on, plus putting out a monthly podcast where I interview professional comics.
So… you’ll have to forgive me while I take this short break from The Simple Complex.
Thanks so much to all my readers!

Thanks again for continuing to support the comic. Of course, I’m making assumptions here. Please don’t turn out to be visiting the site just because you hate it so much your blood boils and anger is the only thing that makes you feel alive anymore. That would be depressing for all of us.
I missed two days last week due to midterms and an overall stress heightening environment. Apologies. In my defense, I’m still a student. In addition that, I’m making preparations to direct a large-scale feature-length film over the summer with some fellow film majors. I wrote the screenplay with a close friend, who is co-directing with me, and the project has grown into an unbelievable behemoth over a very short period of time. It’s taking up a lot of my life, which I have very little of since I draw this webcomic, perform stand-up comedy, draw the comics for my university’s newspaper, and find myself in classrooms for majority of each day.
That said, I’m very sorry to have missed a couple days and I am a terrible person.

Well, there you go. Issue 2 has come to the close. I’m gonna’ return to the comic strip format for a little while before getting back into the main story again, both of which I’m excited for. Readership is slowly growing, so I figure why not completely shake things up just when I’m starting to get consistent.

The holidays are coming and I’ve decided to give you all a gift. That gift is to begin Issue 2 next week, only 2 weeks after I had originally promised. I probably won’t flake out again. On Monday, December 27th, the 4-panel strips go on hiatus in favor of returning to the main storyline.
I want to once again thank everybody who has been following along so far and I wish you all happy holidays! You are the best people.

It turns out I’m having a lot more fun making these comic strips than I’d originally planned. As such, I’m going to continue doing strips in this format for a little while longer. It’s really fun putting the characters into traditional 4-panel comics and, honestly, I kind of wish I’d tried this sooner.
The regular comic-book format will return with Issue 2 just a little later than planned, but don’t worry. It’s worth the wait. (There’s dinosaurs.)
